Everything paper

Months ago, I was talking to my friend (and wedding coordinator) about our vision for the wedding and she threw out the idea of a paper-themed wedding. I instantly loved the concept, as did my husband (he has proved himself to be quite handy with my myriad of craft tools). Little did I know what I was getting myself into when I ambitiously set out to create a paper-filled wedding!

First things first, we wanted to create a "signature" paper flower that would inspire and complement our wedding decor. We tried roses, magnolia blossoms, gerbera daisies...nothing seemed right until we created a stylized lotus blossom. We placed the blossoms on our registration table, podium, cake table, anywhere that needed a bit of color and a touch of our personal style. Our guests were able to take them home, too, since we used the flowers to top off each individal origami favor box.

I had lots of help with the favor boxes and flowers. My mom was on origami-folding duty for the black boxes, and two of my bridesmaids came to my rescue a week before the wedding by helping me curl each petal on every single lotus blossom. Now that's friendship!

In the end, the paper flowers looked beautiful and were definitely worth the effort!
