Spring 2009 Color Report

Since fashion trends often spill over into other facets of our world (i.e. home decor, graphic design), Pantone's Spring 2009 Fashion Color Report was highly anticipated by many. Fashionable brides may even choose to incorporate a hue from this playful palette into their wedding decor. I'm already working with a handful of Spring brides who requested lavender and dark citron, so they're definitely in the know!

Numbers

It's all about numbers this week:

1 anniversary - We celebrated The Wedding Cafe's 7th anniversary last night!

2 birthdays - My sister-in-law is celebrating her birthday on Thursday and Tanna Dang, owner of The Wedding Cafe, celebrated her big 3-0 birthday yesterday.

3 days til I hop on a plane and start my glorious vacation

1 bath that I need to give to my very reluctant dog

120 ceremony programs that I still need to design, print, and assemble before Thursday

1,000 items to check off on my to-do list before I can actually relax and enjoy my vacation

Stacey Lee Designs

Oh, happy day! My favorite local jewelry designer, Stacey Lee, launched her long awaited, much anticipated web site this week! This means I can browse through her latest designs with a few simple clicks and expand my jewelry collection in minutes.

Stacey also offers a bridal collection with custom designed pieces made to the client's specifications. I ordered my bridal necklace, earrings, and bridesmaid jewelry from Stacey last year and couldn't have been happier with the way everything turned out.

Check out Stacey's beautiful site at: www.staceyleedesigns.com !

Where in the world is...

When I first launched the Emi Ink web site three years ago, I'd check my visitor statistics every night at 10:00pm. (That's precisely what time the updates were refreshed.) Even though I knew that for the first few weeks of existence my only visitors consisted of me and a group of close friends and family members, it didn't matter...I was getting hits!

Although I don't check my stats as often as I once did, I thought it might be fun to see where all my visitors were coming from. Using Interactive Maps, I plugged in all the countries of origin, customized my size and colors, and voila - instant map! The dark pink color represents visitors to my web site throughout August, and the light pink color represents unconquered territory. (Am I starting to sound a bit like the game of Risk?)

Anyway, this might be a fun feature to add to your wedding web site. If your guest list lacks that international flair, you can also create a US-based map and highlight all the states that your guests are from. Or, maybe you could map out all the places that you've traveled to with your better half. The possibilities are endless!

Olympic sighting

Sometimes, three-day weekends mean three days of work. Sometimes, it means three days to get caught up on errands and chores. But sometimes, not often enough these days, it means having some fun and putting in some serious R&R time.

My husband and I headed over to the Stan Sheriff Center twice this past weekend to watch the UH Rainbow Wahine volleyball team battle Penn State and UCLA. Friday night's game was quick and dirty (match point came after only 90 minutes of play), but Sunday night's game offered moments of pure joy and excitement despite UH's loss to the Bruins.

So as not to launch into a virtual play-by-play commentary, let me just say that one other highlight from Sunday night was seeing Bryan Clay, 2008 Olympic gold medalist in the decathlon. Yes, I was really excited to cheer for a hometown hero and fellow alumnus...but as far as I could tell, so were the thousands of other fans sitting with me.
